Scammers have prepared a new trap for travelers using the Airbnb accommodation reservation service. The developers of antiviruses from the computer company Eset Nod32 warned of a new Phishing danger for tourists.
The user receives an e-mail message in which hackers asks the user to accept “New Terms and Conditions”. They are sending out an updated privacy policy. To accept the “new conditions”, it is suggested to follow a link, informs Nation News. By clicking on the link, the person gets routed to a fake page, where, among other things, he is asked to update his credit card details. Those who got caught by this scam, expect serious financial losses.
The fraudsters are abusing the fact, that by May 25th, there is a new Privacy Policy being enforced all over Europe. It is called GDPR.
According to Ansnei.com, Airbnb is among the safest tourist resources. Other popular booking services for accommodations and flights resources – Trivago, Agoda, Accor Hotels, Tripadvisor – provide scammers with even greater scope for their activities.
