DK-CERT and several other security institutions have given a warning in relation to #VPNfilter which is quite common, and provides several Network Exploitation Modules. If you bought a wifi-router or a wifi-dongle, please chech that it is not on the list mentioned below.
Hackers witn connections to Russia, apparently developped a malware called VPNfilter. It appreas to be much worse than we first thought.
According to the Cyber Authorities – US CERT more than 500-thousand home users are under attack in more than 50-countries.
Router has to be reset
What we know is, that the malware can listen in to all traffic on the router, disconnect the router and attack devices connected to the router. You immediately need to follow these steps:
- reset your router
- add a strong (12-digit) admin password – that only you know
- disable “remote management” of the router
